Ambiguità lucide arises from an increasingly shared sensation: that of being immersed in a reality that generates ambiguity in a systematic way and in which the multiplicity of interpretations becomes the norm.

What if ambiguity was a strategy, a device, or even a tool? And if so, can it be observed via the design lens or from a design-related perspective?

Ambiguity has always been an intrinsic part of human nature and its interpretative mechanisms, but also a constant characteristic of projects, policies and languages. Today, ambiguity seems to be no longer an exception, but a seductive and entertaining condition.

“Experiences of ambiguity have never been more numerous in everyday life than today” strategic communication researcher Olaf Hoffjann argues critically; “in an ever-changing world, embrace the ambiguous” suggests Linda E. Ginzel, an expert in managerial psychology and leadership. On the one hand, ambiguity is a concept that maintains its negative nuances, on the other, it is told as a competence to be developed to thrive in contemporary society.

Ambiguità lucide proposes a reflection on this paradox of the present. Starting from the practices and projects of the guests, the exhibition investigates this contemporary paradox: why are we entertained by ambiguity while recognizing its artifices and illusions? What does this habit of the ambiguous imply in our spaces, in our memories, in our thoughts? Are we learning to live with distorted and manipulated versions of reality?

We have tried to maintain lucidity in exploring ambiguity.
